"In a single operation, the Saint-Germain block project will increase by a third the number of social housing in the 7th arrondissement, which is the red lantern in this area", rejoices Ian Brossat, deputy. (PCF) to the housing of the mayor of the capital.

Located at 10, rue Saint Dominique, very close to the National Assembly and numerous embassies, the former site of the Ministry of Defense will house 254 social housing units (T1, T2, T3 and T4), a gymnasium as well as a nursery, from 2023.

"For a 20 m² studio, the rent will be 200 euros including charges, indicates Ian Brossat, or two to three times cheaper than in the private sector".

10% of the housing units in the park will be reserved for soldiers and the whole will benefit from the latest in thermal renovation.

"We arrive at devices equivalent to those of new housing," says François Brugel, project manager.

In the 19th century building, "the objective was to offer large apartments crossing between the street and the garden", while in the modern one located above the nursery and the gymnasium, the project was rather oriented "Towards small dwellings to properly distribute this building".

The 7th arrondissement has 4% social housing compared to 23.6% on average in Paris.

"Rachida Dati (LR mayor of the 7th century) has never opposed social housing, assures the councilor of the borough Emmanuelle Dauvergne, we just regret this diversity… which is not one", explains the elected official, specifying that the share of housing reserved for families is lower than for small surfaces.

On the other hand, the town hall of the 7th district has indicated that it would prefer that these apartments benefit first and foremost the inhabitants of the district.
